Our company is seeking a Geology Technician for a full-time position based at our Abra Mine.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Senior Geology Technician, as Geology Technician, you will be responsible for underground technical work comprising face sampling, mapping, ROM sampling and management, sample submission to onsite and external laboratory.

The Geology Technician will also assist with the development and implementation of systems and procedures, assist with the core processing and management of underground drilling and mining contractors.

  1. Conduct the face mapping and sampling, backs and walls mapping, stope inspections, and other geology related primary mine tasks in the Abra underground gold mine;
  2. ROM mapping and sampling;
  3. Data entry tasks as required;
  4. Completion of core preparation, basic geotechnical logging or core, and core sampling (including dispatch);
  5. Assisting mine geologists regarding field duties, data collection, and collation;
  6. Weekly and monthly consumable stocktakes for the underground and core processing;
  7. Ensuring compliance to all safety guidelines in the underground environment and in the core yard;
  8. Assist with QAQC tracking, documentation, and lab audits;
  9. Completion of field and underground projects as designated by the Senior Geologist and/or Geology Superintendent.

ABOUT YOU

Your work ethic will be reliable, consistent, and always with a high attention to detail. Your current and previous co-workers would describe you as a collaborative and productive team player. In addition, you will have

  1. Current WA “C” class driver’s license, 4x4 wheel drive competency
  2. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  3. Attention to detail and ability to ensure completion of the assigned tasks
  4. An outcome-focused attitude with well-developed self-management skills
  5. The ability to meet established timeframes and solve daily problems that arise
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with learning from more experienced colleagues.
  7. Advanced computer literacy skills with strong Microsoft Office suite skills
  8. Working knowledge in LogChief logging software desirable.
  9. Awareness of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
  10. A sound understanding of data management and validation processes.
  11. Minimum 3 years’ experience within the resources industry (desirable).
  12. Minimum of 1 years’ experience in an underground environment (desirable).
  13. Established approach to being able to effectively source, gather, interpret, and communicate quantitative and qualitative data.
  14. Exposure to base metal deposits highly desirable.
